How it works

A clear scope, then a fixed cost.

A fixed cost only works when the scope is clear. So every project starts with a short conversation about what you need, followed by a written proposal covering deliverables, responsibilities, assumptions and price. You approve that before any work begins.

The process

Four steps

  1. Step 1

    Tell me what you need.

Share the website, problem or project you have in mind.

  2. Step 2

    Agree the scope and cost.

Receive a written proposal covering deliverables, responsibilities and timing.

  3. Step 3

    Build, review and refine.

Review progress at the agreed stages and provide consolidated feedback.

  4. Step 4

    Launch and hand over.

Receive the completed work and the relevant guidance, with ongoing support available where agreed.

Ways of working

Three shapes a project can take

Defined project

One agreed set of deliverables for a fixed fee.

Improvement sprint

A bounded list of changes to an existing website or workflow.

Ongoing support

A defined monthly scope and fee, where required.

Fixed price after scopingDelivery timing: Agreed in your proposal

What a proposal covers

  • The deliverables, written as a specific list.
  • Anything explicitly outside the scope.
  • What I need from you, and when.
  • The assumptions the price depends on.
  • Review points and how feedback is handled.
  • The fixed price and payment stages.

If the requirements change

Projects evolve. If something new comes up, or the requirements move beyond what was agreed, I'll tell you what it involves and price it before it is added. Nothing extra is charged without your agreement, and you always know where the boundary sits.

Share a little about your website, your goals and what is getting in the way. I'll use that to work out the right scope and next step.
